The World Wide Web is granted the term “Web” because it is made up of a various sites all weaved together into an entity like a spider’s web. For a business site to become a major part of this Web, it must have many other major parts of the Web linking to it. Search engines rank the importance of a site based on how woven it is into the Web. So in general terms, the more links that lead into a site, the better its page rank.
Remember, search engines such as Google consider the topics and qualities of sites linking to you as much as they consider the number of links. Find sites that will offer you targeted circulation and sell products complimentary to yours. Let’s look at some examples of places where you can place links to help your page rank:
Articles Directories
One effective link building method to get high quality links to your site is to write articles related to your site and submit them to article directories for others to publish on their sites. Anyone can use your articles on his site for free, but the articles must always include your resource box, where you have a link to your site.
Paid Blog Posting
The highest impact type of link back strategy is perhaps the kind wherein you pay a related blog with a high ranking to post something about your site and provide a link back to it.
Blogs
Find about 15 blogs with content related to your site and subscribe to their RSS feeds. Respond regularly to blog entries by posting good or constructive comments and including a link to your site in each posting.
Forums
Forums are great places to contribute content related your site and participate in discussions. Accompany your postings with a signature line that has your URL. However, make sure your postings are on topic and useful to readers.
Link Directories
Search engines look down on reciprocal link exchanges. One-way link directories are occasionally a good place to submit your link, but be sure they have useful content and a good page rank first.
